Michelle L. Carder received her Juris Doctor in 1994 from the University of Washington School of Law, where she was a member of the Moot Court Honor Board and was the Washington State Attorney General’s law clerk for the trial of the landmark treaty rights case, United States v. State of Washington. She received her undergraduate degree with a major in English in 1990 from the University of California, Los Angeles. Before associating with Hines Henderson in 1997, Ms. Carder spent three years practicing general plaintiff tort, product liability, and medical malpractice litigation. Presently, Ms. Carder’s federal and state court practice, at both the trial court and appellate levels, includes general business litigation and insurance coverage analysis and litigation. Ms. Carder’s experience also includes intellectual property, real estate, and land use litigation. Prior to committing her time to the practice of law, Ms. Carder was an accomplished equestrian. She twice was the Pacific Coast Quarter Horse Association’s number one ranked all-around rider, a world championship finalist, and was nationally ranked top three in multiple events by the American Quarter Horse Association. Ms. Carder currently serves as a director for Old Towne Preservation Association, a non-profit organization dedicated to maintaining the historic integrity and economic viability of California’s largest national register district.
