Kevin L. Smith received his Juris Doctor in 1981 from the University of Michigan and his undergraduate degree from Miami University in Ohio. Prior to becoming a partner of the firm Hines Henderson in 1994, Mr. Smith practiced as a trial attorney with Dewey Ballantine in New York and California and was a partner at the firm Farmer & Ridley.

Currently, Mr. Smith practices in the areas of tax litigation, insurance litigation, general business litigation, construction litigation, and real estate litigation. Mr. Smith has argued numerous state and federal appeals and has litigated complex tax and insurance-related matters before the United States Tax Court. Mr. Smith represents insurance companies, small and large commercial enterprises, real estate and construction companies and financial institutions. His specialty is the efficient and effective handling of complex, multi-party litigation.

Mr. Smith is licensed to practice before all courts of the States of California, Michigan, Nevada, and New York, and the United States Tax Court and United States Supreme Court. Mr. Smith is an avid golfer and is a member of the Board of Directors of the Southern California Golf Association and the Southern California Golf Association Foundation. He also co-hosts the popular, nationally syndicated sports radio show, “Tee It Up,” and is a frequent contributor to golfing publications.
